Affectionately known as the “Cowboy Journalist” due to his upbringing as a herdsman, he has risen to prominence as a news anchor and host on Citi FM and Channel One TV.  Umaru’s impactful documentaries, such as The Fulani Revealed, have garnered international acclaim, earning him accolades like the WASH Media Award and a state honor for his role during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

In 2024, he achieved a significant milestone by earning an LLB from Central University College, reflecting his dedication to continuous learning.  His journey from humble beginnings to a leading voice in journalism exemplifies resilience and the transformative power of media.
