Empowering the Next Generation
The University of Cape Coast recently hosted a highly successful Free Digital Skills Training Programme at the ICT Center. Organized as a collaborative effort between TEDxUniversityOfCapeCoast and the Computer Science and Information Technology Students Association (CITSA), the event aimed to equip students with the tools needed to thrive in today’s tech-driven economy.
The program, which took place on 6th May 2026, saw an enthusiastic turnout of students eager to expand their professional horizons and transition from ideas to employability.
Hands-On Learning and Industry Support
We extend our deepest gratitude to our industry partners, including Generation Ghana, AmaliTech, ALX Ghana, and Let's Talk Digital, whose support ensured the training met modern professional standards. Through these partnerships, the initiative provided structured pathways for students to develop professional-level skills.
The sessions provided practical, hands-on experience in six core areas. Participants explored building the foundations of the web through web development, and mastered visual communication and branding in the graphic design module. They also learned to produce engaging digital media in the content creation segment. Furthermore, the digital marketing sessions provided strategies for navigating online business landscapes, while digital communication training focused on enhancing professional networking, particularly on LinkedIn. Finally, participants learned about virtual assistance, discovering freelancing platforms and essential productivity tools.
A Vision for the Future
This initiative represents a strategic investment in Ghana's most valuable resource—its young people. The success of this program marks a significant milestone for our community. By providing these resources for free, we are committed to closing the digital divide and ensuring that UCC students and graduates are competitive on a global scale.
As we look forward to future initiatives, including advanced learning, internship pathways, and freelancing opportunities, we encourage everyone to stay connected with us.
